Made in Denmark
A close encounter with Danish artistic craftsmanship.
This visit has been designed to let you get up close with some selected realities of artistic craftsmanship. You will not only discover unique creations, but you will also meet in person (where possible) the artists-craftsmen/craftswomen that lie behind. We will visit several shops and workshops ranging from goldsmithry to pottery, from embroidery to cabinetmaking, from weaving to glass objects. Guided by high quality principles and aesthetic taste you will go through Copenhagen’s districts in order to find hidden gems that will make you know more about the made in Denmark concept. In this occasion we will give voice to the creators that lie behind unique and special artifacts. The relation with the artistic process and the relation between the creators and their work are our main objective during this guided tour. We will see rare jewels, wonderful handmade ceramic objects, lovely creations in glass besides meeting special people such as the craftswoman who considers herself a designer for Mother Nature and the group of art carpenters. In addition to the guided tour, we can also arrange a workshop during which you can test yourself in one of the decorative arts of your choice.
The technical itinerary may undergo changes in order to improve the guided experience. In addition, specific stops at the several sites of interest (museums, shops, showrooms, galleries, churches) - where expected - are subject to availability on the day and time of the visit. The chronological order of visits may be changed even at the last moment if circumstances require it, while maintaining the contents of the program unchanged.

The ideal way to carry out this tour is by bicycle. However, we can arrange it differently upon your explicit request (e.g. bicycle, private car, private minivan).
- Do I need to take care of renting a bicycle and a helmet?
No, you do not. We will take care of that. However, if you prefer to rent a bicycle by your own, you are welcome to do so. Just les us know so we can better organize.
- How long will I have the bicycle at disposal?
In case we rent, the bicycle will be at disposal during the guided tour.
- Where will the tour start/end?
In case we rent, the tour will start/end at the rental shop. If you rent, we can agree accordingly.
- I know how to bike, but I don’t bike usually. Is it safe to bike in Copenhagen?
More than half of the population commutes by bicycle in Copenhagen. It is completely normal to use the bicycle and the urban design allows to do so in a safe way. The bike lanes are nearly everywhere and they have space enough. Cars watch out for cyclists. However, you need to know how to bike to enjoy the tour with no stress and to not turn the experience into a stressful situation for the others and the guide.
- Is it mandatory to use the helmet?
No, it is not, but it is warmly recommended. You are free to use it or not, but we will ask you to wear it for safety reasons.
- What happens if I hurt myself during the bike tour?
Let us tell you that we have never had accidents during a bicycle tour so far. The pace of the guided tour, thanks to the experience of the guide, will perfectly fit your possibilities. Having said that, if you still hurt yourself (e.g. you fall off the bicycle), we will evaluate the seriousness of the situation on the spot. If necessary, we will call for help; otherwise, we will continue the visit, after taking a short break. We remind you that no cause of this kind is attributable to A Spasso with Elena, therefore for a total protection, we recommend that you make a travel insurance that covers unfortunate events.
- Will there be thime for a lunch break?
This tour lasts 6 hours, so, yes, we certainly plan to hold a lunch break. In this very case, we will have a quick bite. Our break will be approimately 30 minutes long. If you prefer that we take care of arranging your lunch at a Danish restaurant so you can try typical food, let us know. We will be happy to satisfy your expectations. Please remember that in this case, the total duration of the tour will be longer and the final price will depend on the type of restaurant you choose.
- How can I know more about the price for this visit?
We kindly ask you to contact us, but before that, you can read about our rates in the section “Terms and Conditions” on our webpage.
