Join a goldsmith in her workshop and explore your creativity during an exclusive experience. Experience Copenhagen differently, build a deeper connection with the city, and take home something to remember it forever.
There are two versions of this workshop, depending on the number of participants.
- Option with 2-4 participants, ideal for people over 16:
Join a goldsmith in their workshop and get crafty! In this visit you will have the opportunity to make a small silver pendant as well as to experience the daily lives of craftsmen in their workshop in the heart of Copenhagen. The visit starts off with a brief introduction to jewellery making to then focus on the creation of your personalised piece. You will first choose one design from a range of Danish-themed templates, like for example the viking ship, the herring and the bike wheel. An experienced goldsmith will then guide you through the making process: punching and stamping a CPH tag, filing and soldering the various elements of the pendant and learning how to work with pliers to connect parts with small jump rings. While you work, you can also have a little snack from the refreshment board and listen to stories about jewellery design and making in Denmark. By the end of this experience, you will have a beautiful hand-made pendant to take home with you.
- Option with 4-8 participants, ideal for people over 12:
Get a taste of jewellery making and learn more about the ancient craft of goldsmithing! In this visit you will make a small Copenhagen tag, while soaking in the atmosphere of a goldsmith workshop in Copenhagen inner city. The visit starts off with a brief introduction to jewellery making to then focus on the creation of your tag. An experienced goldsmith is there to guide you through the making process: rolling the silver plate in a rolling mill, cutting a round tag, pierce a hole and finally stamp it. Gather around the table while your worker, chat with your travel partners and listen to an insight on Danish jewellery design and making. By the end of this experience, you will have a original silver tag to take home with you.
To take part in the workshop, it is recommended that:
- you wear comfortable clothing, avoiding expensive, delicate, light-coloured items;
- you wear reading glasses, if you need them, so as to be able to see the small parts we will be working with;
- if you have long hair, please tie it back.
The visit can be personalised to accommodate larger groups or specific requirements. Get in touch with us to discuss the details.
