Louisiana Museum of modern art
A dip in one of the most beautiful art collections in the world.
How many museums have you visited so far? And how many do you remember as if you were there yesterday? Of how many do you jealously keep your memories? Are you looking forward to see them again? The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is for us one of those unforgettable places which takes your heart and lives in your memories through nice emotions. Just remember that if it was not for an art lover, the villa that today houses one of the most beautiful collections in the world, it would perhaps continue to be a simple country house, with a stunning view over the sea. The strategic museum’s location gains definitely many points and turns the visit into an experience during which you will join the harmonius relationship between architecture and nature. The main character of this trip outside Copenhagen is art, therefore we will focus on the exploration of the permanent collection. It constitutes artworks by Danish and international artists, who are world renown. Among others, you will see L’homme qui marche (1960) by Alberto Giacometti, Dead drunk Danes (1960) by Asger Jorn, Gleaming lights of the souls (2008) by Yayoi Kusama. In the sculpture park outside you will see Phases of nothingness (1970) by Nobuo Sekine, Manoir d’Essor (1969/82) by Jean Dubuffet and Two piece reclining Ffgure No. 5 (1963-64) by Henry Moore. The collection is, indeed, surrounded by a park overlooking the sea. It is a wonderful idea to spend some time there to read a book, try the delicacies of the museum café or just contemplating beauty. The surrounding garden may represent itself the aim of the visit or anyway be an essential part of your visit. You cannot grasp the true spirit of Louisiana if you do not visit it through 360 degrees. If you are interested in visiting the museum’s surrounding too, let’s extend the tour and visit other magic places such as the Deer Park where the Hermitage hunting lodge is located or Karen Blixen house museum, namely the author behind the novel Den afrikanske farm (Out of Africa).
The technical itinerary may undergo changes in order to improve the guided experience. In addition, specific stops at the several sites of interest (museums, shops, showrooms, galleries, churches) - where expected - are subject to availability on the day and time of the visit. The chronological order of visits may be changed even at the last moment if circumstances require it, while maintaining the contents of the program unchanged.
